Lark’s Home Run, aka Homer, is a 2005 son of the legendary AQHA stallion, Rugged Lark, and Sail Home Again. Homer is an Appendix Quarterhorse whose sire was a two-time AQHA World Champion Farnam Superhorse, a three-time AQHA World Champion and an AQHA Hall of Fame inductee.
Homer has proven himself trainable in a variety of disciplines and his latest list of talents include dressage under the tutelage of USDF Gold Medalist Ruth Hogan-Poulsen. Homer and Ruth’s assistant trainer, Julie McKean, have been going down centerline at Second Level and showcased a baseball-themed freestyle in 2018, earning a 67.667 percent.
“Homer is one of the most open-minded and loyal horses I have ever met. No matter the task – new or old – he wants to participate and learn. Once he has mastered a task, he is also willing to help teach it to his wonderful mom, Beth.”~ Ruth Hogan-Poulsen
Although Homer was gelded, he still retains frozen semen and is available for select breedings.
He is also an altruistic horse who supports a variety of charities. Homer participated in a Make a Wish Exhibition that raised $10,000 for a painting of his sweet profile following a bridle-less freestyle.
Homer and his mom, Elizabeth Stauber-Johnson, are keen supporters of the Challenge of the Americas, a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through its partner, Play for P.I.N.K. In 2018, Homer was a Partner for P.I.N.K. and, in 2019, he raised the bar to become a Pink Patron for the event.
In addition, if a mare chooses Homer as her breeding partner, 20% of the breeding fee will be donated to a 501(c)3 Equine Rescue in the mare’s region. Homer and his mom feel strongly about helping horses in need.
